Monochromatic Selfies

The first collaborative project of the 2017-18 school year in the PYP Art Room of SEK Qatar is now complete! All grade levels from Preschool 3 to Grade 5 spent the first two weeks of art lessons creating Monochromatic Self-Portraits. Each student chose one colour and used many different shades of that colour to create a beautiful self-portrait.

Every student in PYP was given the opportunity to create a portrait as part of the project. They chose their colours independently and learned how to express light and shade of that colour using a variety of materials. The students observed their own faces using mirrors and carefully drew portraits that represented their individual features! They added backgrounds full of unique patterns and designs as a finishing touch.

The outcome is a truly beautiful display in our main hall, with portraits created by students of all grade levels combined together. What a great celebration of our PYP community!
