As part of Doha Learning Week and the World Innovation Summit for Education 2017 , Grade 2 students of SEK Qatar hosted a wonderful workshop with their parents, showcasing the weaving skills they have developed during our recent unit of inquiry.
Our Grade 2 students have been exploring the timeless textile craft of weaving for almost 8 weeks. During this time, they learned about paper weaving, circle loom weaving and creating yarn from t-shirts. During the workshop, students guided their parents through the process of weaving on a loom and collaborated to create beautiful rugs. In promotion of sustainability, the rugs have been weaved entirely from recycled textiles and yarn created from reused clothing. The workshop was a wonderful opportunity for the students to share their process and finished artworks with their parents.
I hope you enjoy the photographs in the album below 🙂
