International Day

Last Thursday, SEK Qatar celebrated International Day. The day was filled with music performances, food, and cultural artifacts. It was such a special day because it allowed us to truly recognize the rich diversity of our school population. Students spent several weeks preparing for the celebration. In the Art room, students explored artistic traditions from their home countries and from the countries students “visited” in their Music passports.

A special thanks to all of the parents and students who worked so hard to make the celebration a success. Enjoy examples of the students’ fine work, which will be displayed until Unit Presentations begin in just a couple of weeks!

Hello, my name is (Ms.) Catherine and I am the Art teacher at SEK Qatar. Once upon a time I received my Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. While I was in school, I had the amazing opportunity to spend a semester studying art in Italy. Now I am an Art teacher and I have worked in the US, South Africa, and Qatar. When I'm not busy finding lesson ideas on Pinterest I like going desert driving (my husband does the driving), exploring in the souq, and trying new restaurants in Doha. I think an art education is essential to academic success for students and I am very proud to teach at one of the schools in Doha with a dedicated Art program!
